You never know where life will take you

When I started writing the story for Keiko the Koala, I didn't know what would come of it.  In fact I started writing Keiko many, many years ago.  My formal education and working experience is in Finance and Accounting.  I have an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA in Accounting. I have spent most of my career working in the corporate business world in accounting, finance, budgeting and forecasting.
I NEVER dreamed that I would write, let alone publish a children's book in my life time.  It just goes to show you that you never know where life will take you.

About 8 years ago, the company I was working for was going through a re-organization and there was a strong possibility that our company was going to be bought by another company within a short amount of time.  At that time, I was working in the budgeting and forecasting department, so since the future was quite uncertain, budgeting and forecasting was really at a stand-still.  All I really worked on was presenting the monthly financials compared to the budget we already did... long story short..., there was not a lot of work to do, but we all needed to look busy and keep busy... I was getting bored at work and feeling an overall lack of challenge.  One evening after work, I was laying on the sofa, thinking about how uncertain  my career path had become and what options I had.  I thought to myself..., if I could do anything I wanted, what would it be.  I wanted to write..., I loved writing! What would I write??? I decided to write a children's book!
