The Decision to Self-Publish

I chose to self publish my book instead of using a traditional publisher so that I could learn first hand what it was like to go through the publishing process.  Although it takes a lot of time and an financial investment, I don't regret self-publishing.
Self-publishing is not easy if you want to do it right and be able to compete with those who have the backing of a traditional publisher.  You need to be self-motivated, dedicated and an advocate for yourself.

The best things about self-publishing is that you get to be your own boss, work at your own pace and you keep the rights to everything.

Of course, finding a great self-publishing company is important.  I've learned a lot from working with AuthorHouse.  I would highly recommend this company if you choose to self-publish.  Their guidance has been critical to helping "learn as I go".
