Welcome to Keiko's blog

Dear Parents and Grandparents...Welcome to Keiko's blog. Keiko the Koala was born out of my love for writing and my love of children. I wanted to develop a story for children with a character that was unique, comforting, loving and wise,
a character that young children would love and parents would embrace. Keiko the Koala is a book which teaches that we are all different from each other, but it's our differences which make us special and unique.

As a parent, I know first hand, we are always looking for ways to teach our children the important lessons that they will carry with them through life.  Lessons like... how to be respectful, how to be caring and sympathetic, how to build strong relationships, the importance of hard work, how there are consequences to our actions and the list goes on and on.

If you are anything like me, you will do your best to show by example.  And most days, this works.  I say "most" days, because we all know there are those times when our children find pleasure in pointing out to us that we are not leading by example. In addition to "showing by example",  books are another great way to teach our children.  Since reading books to our little ones is usually part of our daily routine, I'm hoping you'll reach for Keiko the Koala.

I am working on my next book.  The theme of this book is "Unlikely Friends can become the Best of Friends".  As many of you know, bullying is a big concern of parents and teachers.  My next book will focus on bullying.  Bullying starts because someone is seen as being different.  If we can teach our children to embrace their own differences, then we can teach our children to accept the differences in others.
